In late 2025, we filed a $10 million hazing and abuse lawsuit on behalf of Leonel Bermudez, a University of Houston student, against the Pi Kappa Phi Beta Nu chapter, its national headquarters, the University of Houston, and 13 individual fraternity leaders. The allegations are severe and concrete: a “pledge fanny pack” filled with humiliating items, enforced dress codes, overnight driving duties, and extreme physical abuse. This included being sprayed in the face with a hose “similar to waterboarding,” forced consumption of milk, hot dogs, and peppercorns until vomiting, and a November 3rd workout of 100+ push-ups and 500 squats.
